RangerMail Server

ABOUT US

You have accessed the email server site for the combined Western Rangers group. This site serves retired, active duty and honorably separated Rangers from troops in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, regardless of the length of their service. After years or even decades of dedication, being dropped from the Troop’s email list upon separation deprives less experienced Rangers the counsel of years of wisdom.

This site offers an email address – if at all possible with the Ranger’s original badge number – without cost or obligation to sworn officers from the four original state Ranger groups, in addition to “splinter troops” that have, for whatever reason, opted to align themselves with local city or county law enforcement, rather than remaining with the statewide organization.

Access to an email address is granted only after documentation is provided, or the Ranger’s service is verified through historical records, newspaper accounts, Troop rosters, or has been personally verified by a troop officer who served during the same period.

ARIZONA RANGERS

The group was originally formed in 1901, then disbanded in 1909. It was re-established in 1957 by a few surviving original Territorial Arizona Rangers.  The group is an unpaid, all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that falls under the direct control of law enforcement.

COLORADO (MOUNTED) RANGERS

Originally organized in 1861 as  the Colorado Territory’s first statewide law enforcement agency, it evolved to 501(c)(3) unpaid status in 1941. In the summer of 2018, the Mounted Rangers transitioned to a fund raising only status. The group’s Rangers formed the Colorado Rangers Law Enforcement Shared Reserve (CLER). They have returned to their original Colorado Rangers name, and are now a statewide government and P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement agency.

NEW MEXICO RANGERS

Rangers have served New Mexico’s citizens since the late 1800s.  They are tasked to support and defend the State constitution by providing trained and qualified individuals in support of Law Enforcement.

TEXAS RANGERS

Founded in 1823 when Stephen F. Austin deputized  ten men to act as Rangers, they were assigned to protect 600 to 700 newly settled families who arrived in Texas following the Mexican War of Independence. The familiar “star in a wheel” badge, is a recent uniform addition. Adopted in 1962, it uses Mexican five-pesos coins. They are the only Ranger group to remain in a paid status.
